The New Gt Horkesley Village Hall

Sundays 10am til 12 noon

You may have noticed on a walk across the green on a Sunday morning that a church is meeting in the new Village Hall. It’s us! So we thought you may like to have a snapshot of who we are and what we do.

Who are we?

We are a community of ordinary people who want to discover more about Jesus and follow Him. We consider ourselves to be a family, caring about each other as we learn, with an open invitation for others to join us. We want His heart of love to be at the centre of all we do.

What do we do?

We come together each Sunday morning between 10am and 12 noon to worship Jesus, learn more about Him and how to live a life with Him continually changing us for the better. We are all a work in progress!

Each Sunday will include a time of contemporary worship, groups for the young children and youth and a teaching for adults that is relevant to our daily lives. We pray together for ourselves and each other.

We always finish the morning with a cup of freshly brewed coffee and homemade cakes. We celebrate birthdays once a month too!

What do we believe?

We believe that God the Father loves us all. That through His Son Jesus Christ we can be reconciled by faith with our Heavenly Father and in the power of God the Holy Spirit we can enjoy God and be transformed from the inside out.

Here’s what some say…

‘..There is a family atmosphere where I feel accepted and secure. It’s a safe place to be real and express how I feel. I am free to be myself and not hide who I really am. It’s where your healing begins. I was aware that I carried hurts from years ago. I have learnt that God loves me unconditionally and accepts me as I am but loves me too much to leave me there. My days get brighter and I have hope.’

‘at Sunday School I learn about Jesus and it makes me feel so happy when my friends are around and I can do lots of things with them when I’m there.’

Gt Horkesley Youth Club

We are thrilled to help run the local Youth Club with friends from the local Anglican Church as well as volunteers from the village. Please see the article for the GHYC.

What else?

We meet together in homes during the week to build friendship and encourage each other in our journey of faith through the ups and downs of life.

We are actively involved in charities and social enterprises. For example, Patrick Pretorious (Ninja Warrior finalist 2016) is planning to run 130 km (that’s 83 miles) in June to raise money for the local charity ‘Lads Need Dads’ which gives mentoring support to vulnerable teenage boys in schools. You can follow him on Facebook, Instagram and twitter at @patpsyched or https://localgiving.org/fundraising/pat83mrun/

We also hold all sorts of courses to support family life such as Parenting Courses which are very encouraging, light hearted as well as humorous! Alpha is also a favourite where we get to ask all sorts of honest questions about God.
