What a fabulous year it’s been with the Great Horkesley Youth Club!
The Autumn term has included some awesome events.
Most recently we had a Smile Puppet Party where over 100 people came, we danced, were squirted by a camel and heard the Christmas story through the puppets. The message included a gift being given to someone but they were reluctant to open it, thinking it was irrelevant to them and uninteresting. It made us think that the gift of Jesus to everyone on earth may be considered in this way but on opening the gift – and discovering forgiveness, peace and a quality of life that goes on for eternity is valuable beyond measure, a true gift of love.

The party also included games where the two young boys in the photo were wrapped up as presents with the audience cheering them on.
This event was held by the Youth Club, All Saints Parish Church and Freedom Church part of Eagle Ministries which meets in the village hall, for the community.

In November, we took the Youth Club to a Bonfire and Firework Party in Chappell. On a clear, mild evening we enjoyed hot dogs, hot chocolate and gathered to watch the fireworks. The young people loved it and have asked to go back in the new year.

During the darker months, we enjoy some games indoors which included this very popular ‘feeding a friend’ with jelly from behind! We have the Wii up and running each evening where we dance along – the leaders join in sometimes too! Always popular is the pool table, PlayStation football and table tennis.

We finished the term with the Christmas Party where we had lots of team games including cutting up chocolate whilst wearing boxing gloves and wrapping up a leader as a snowman with toilet paper and then busting moves along to a Wii dance routine! All the Youth Club left with a gift too. A fun ending to this term.
Looking ahead…

We are back on Friday 8 January @ 7pm and will meet every other week from then on excluding half term. This term will include a ‘Valentines evening’ and Tossing the Pancake Race which will be fun and delicious!
All young people from Year 5 to Year 8 are welcome to join us on Friday evenings.

They are also welcome to come along to Freedom Church on a Sunday morning @ Great Horkesley Village Hall between 10.30am and mid- day each week too!
